Apologies for the lack of blog updates of late- but it's been a pretty hectic few months...
In mid- October, Jamie and I packed up all our things, waved goodbye to beautiful Poolewe, and travelled the length of Britain to South Cornwall. After a month of endless house viewings we finally found a lovely wee house with a garden in the town of Lostwithiel just north of Fowey and ten minutes from the Eden Project. Since then we have been exploring our beautiful new surroundings and trying to get to grips with Cornish life!
I always find it hard to immediately respond to a new place in an artistic way. It takes building a relationship with the land around me; long walks and deep thought whilst immersed in the landscape. I am already feeling inspired by the wealth of plant life and I'm looking forward to watching as natural forms begin to flourish with the change of seasons. I also hope to spend more time on the southern coast where steep, rugged cliffs allow you to see a slice of geological history, sculpted into beautiful eroded formations. With a brand new sketchbook to fill, I'm excited to begin to explore this new landscape in line and colour and planning to start on some new pieces in the studio in the coming months.
